How long have you been a part of the Apex Technology Management team?

10 months

What made you want to join Apex:

During my initial interviews with Matt Fristoe, COO & Scott Putnam, President/CEO, there was a calmness, genuineness, and overall kindness about their personalities. The culture of Apex was exactly what I was looking for within a new company to join. During the interviews, I was intrigued by Apex having a great business model & culture that has made Apex thrive in both client growth and employee retention. They very quickly were put at the top of my list. I am still very thankful to be a part of this amazing team.

What is the most interesting or favorite part of you job?

This is a hard question to choose just one. I would have to say my most favorite part of my job would be helping others. Helping others are linked in various ways throughout my role, such as training others, creating standard operating procedures, and assisting others with technical/security incidents.

What are some cool projects you’ve seen our clients do with Apex’s services/products?

In March 2021, during the on-premises Microsoft Exchange servers attacks, I saw a remarkable amount of teamwork from the Apex team and our client IT Teams. All on-premises exchange servers were patched within 6 hours of the public announcement. There were already an Indicator of compromise (IoC) on (2) servers. Together, all involved parties were able to quickly isolate the machines, pull logs, and do a full remediation of password resets among 100s of user & service accounts.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

The appreciation received is the most rewarding part of my job. This team will go out of their way to stop and give appreciation to others within the team & clients on a regular basis. I honestly feel that working at Apex has made me a better person. When working with a team that is so genuinely kind to each other for more than 8 hours a day, it truly is transformational in my everyday life.

When you think of our culture, what 3 words come to mind:

Integrity, Excellence, and Teamwork

What are some of your hobbies outside of Apex?

I love creating with my hands. I enjoy refinishing wood furniture, and turning them into a work of art. I also enjoy oil painting onto canvases. Strangely, I enjoy any DIY home projects such as, renovating areas within our home (ie. retiling, painting, décor, etc).

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself:

I grew up on a dairy farm in Vermont. During the summer months, I was milking 65 cows solo by the age of 12, while my older brothers and Dad were working out in the fields. It’s a very timed & labored responsibility that my Dad trusted my ability to complete the task. Each cow milks for a different amount of time. Those that milk faster, you must know which cows, as the milking machine could cause the cow pain if it is left on and no milk flow, or they would kick it off and potentially break the machine. While each set of cows are milking there were various tasks to complete throughout the barn. Feeding the cows multiple times, feeding the baby calves with bottles/buckets, cleaning under all calves/heifers/cows as the night passed through. Then, you come back to the milking cows and switch them over to the next set of cows. Each night we would rotate tasks, and then the next night I would be in the field driving a tractor and mowing with my brother behind me chopping the crop. I was able to accomplish this role at the very young age of 12. I am very thankful for my upbringing. I thank my Dad often for teaching me at a young age, to help mold my strong work ethics that I have today.
